IBPS PO 2019 SYLLABUS AND EXAM PATTERN:

Every year Public sector banks of India recruits thousands of candidates via Common Recruitment Process (CWE PO/MT)  conducted by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for the post of Probationary Officer (PO)/ Management Trainee(MT).  Candidates who aspire to join any of the participating banks first need to register themselves for the CWE PO/MT exam from: https://ibps.in

IBPS PO Exam Pattern 2019:

The exam will be conducted in two phases, Preliminary and Mains. Both the exams are conducted online. The third and the final round is the Common Interview Round. Eligible Candidate must need to qualify in the preliminary exam in order to appear for the Mains. Once the candidate qualifies both, Preliminary and Main, he/she will be called for the Common Interview round conducted by the Participating Banks. Then depending on the vacancies and the need of the bank, shortlisted candidates from the Main Examination and the Interview round, will be provisionally appointed by any one of the participating banks.

A Pre-examination training is also conducted by IBPS. But the training is conducted particularly for the candidates of Reserved category.

However, this training will not help in the final decision making process. The finally will be made entirely on the performance of candidate in the Main and Interview round.

IBPS PO Exam Date 2019:

This years, IBPS PO, preliminary exams will be conducted on 12th,13th, 19th and 20th of October ,2019. Shortlisted candidates from prelims will appear for the Mains exam on 30th of November, 2019.

Candidates have to carry valid call letter for the examination. Without a call letter, candidate will not be allowed to give the examination. Call letters of the registered candidates should be available in the IBPS official websites, a week or two before the exam.

IBPS PO 2019 SYLLABUS AND EXAM PATTERN:

Unlike previous years, this year IBPS PO has made some changes in the pattern and syllabus in the exam. The new pattern is similar to the SBI PO exams.

PATTERN, RULES AND SYLLABUS OF IBPS PO/MT PRELIMINARY EXAM:

 The structure of the preliminary exam is divided into three main sections, namely:

 English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning.

  • The question pattern and marks distribution of the preliminary exam is as follows:

  • Exam will be held in online mode in many venues all over the country. Candidates will be allotted a computer each in order to give the exam.
  • The three sections together assessed for a total of 100 marks, each of the sections carries 20 marks.
  • There are total 100 questions.
  • 1 hour (60 min) is allotted to complete the whole question paper.
  • 1 mark will be awarded for a correct answer and 25(¼) mark will be deducted in case of any wrong answer. No marks will be deducted in case of a question left unanswered.
  • For Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability, candidates have the option of answering either in English or in Hindi, whereas, for English Language they can only answer in English.
  • This year, Reasoning Ability will also contain questions from Computer Aptitude and Quantitative Aptitude will also have questions from Data Interpretation according to new exam pattern.
  • All the questions will be in objective form. Four options will be given for each question from which only one option will be correct.
  • There is a section wise as well as overall cutoffs marks set by IBPS, to pass the Preliminary exam. Although the score of Preliminary exam does not have ant weightage in the final selection. But only by qualifying the Preliminary exam can a candidate appear for the IBPS Mains.

PATTERN, RULES AND SYLLABUS OF IBPS PO/MT MAIN EXAM:

The structure of the IBPS PO Mains is mainly divided into four sections along with a descriptive paper. The four main sections are:

Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, English Language, Data Analysis & Interpretation and a separate paper on English Language (Letter Writing & Essay)

  • The question pattern and marks distribution of the preliminary exam is as follows:

  • Exam will be conducted online. Candidates will be allotted a computer each, in order to give the exam.
  • This round carries 80% of the total weightage upon which the final selection will be made.
  • The four sections together assessed for a total of 200 marks carrying 25 marks for two questions. Together four sections carries a total 155 objective questions along with 2 descriptive questions.
  • All the questions will be in objective form apart from two. Four options will be given for each question from which only one option will be correct. The 2 descriptive questions have to be answered, within the word limit asked in the question paper.
  • 3 hour (180 min) is allotted to complete the whole question paper question paper.
  • 1 mark will be awarded for a correct answer and 25(¼) mark will be deducted in case of any wrong answer. No marks will be deducted in case of a question left unanswered.
  • Each section is allotted a particular time limit. If a candidate fails to complete a section within the time allotted to it, then the computer will automatically shift to the next section. Candidate cannot go back to the incomplete section to finish it.
  • For Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation and General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, candidates will have the option of answering either in English or in Hindi, whereas for English Language they can only answer in English.
  • There is a section wise as well as overall cutoffs marks set by IBPS, to pass the Mains exam. Only by qualifying the Mains exam can a candidate appear for the Interview round.
  • Candidates scoring higher marks will be given special preference in the Interview round.

IBPS PO Exam PATTERN AND RULES INTERVIEW ROUND:

  • Only Candidates shortlisted from Main examination can appear for the final Interview round. The Interview will be taken by the participant banks.
  • Candidate must carry valid documents while appearing for the interview round.
  • Total 100 marks are allotted in the interview round.
  • The minimum qualifying marks is 40% for general category and 30% for reserve category (SC/ST/OBC/PWD).
  • The final selection will be made on the basis of Online Main and Interview Round combined, i.e. 80:20 respectively. So, this round carries 20% of the total weightage.
  • The round will judge the candidate on the basis of his/her communication skills and overall personality.
  • Once the candidate is through this round, he/she will be allotted to one of the participant banks.

IBPS PO Prelims Exam Syllabus:

The IBPS PO Elementary Examination is the primary selection round of IBPS PO 2019 exam. Candidates who are selected for the preliminary examination can be present for the main exam. The Prelims examination of the IBPS PO 2019 includes three major sections: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language.

English Language: Reading Comprehension, Cloze Test, Para Jumbles, Miscsllance, Fill in the Blanks, Multiple Meaning/Error Spotting, Paragraph Completion

Quantitative Aptitude: Simplification, Profit and Loss, Mixtures and Allegations, Simple Interest and Compound Interest and Surds and indices, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Date Interpretation, Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Number System, Sequence & Series, Permutation, Combination &  Probability, Menstruation – Cylinder, Cone, Sphere  

Reasoning: Alphanumeric Series, Ranging, Direction, Alphabet Test, Logical Reasoning, Data Sufficiency, Coded Inequalities, Seating Arrangement, Puzzle, Tabulation, Syllogism, Blood Relation, Input Output, Coding, Decoding

IBPS PO Main Exam Syllabus:

The main exam is an important phase of IBPS PO 2019 exam. Those candidates who pass the Priilems examination get a chance to sit in the main exam. There are 4 + 1 sections in the IBPS PO examination 2019 Men’s Examination: Reasoning and Computer Aptitude, English Language, Quantitative, Ability and General Awareness. Like SBI PO 2019, candidates are also selected in IBPS PO.

English Language: Reading Comprehension, Grammar, Vocabulary, Verbal Ability

Quantitative Aptitude: Simplification, Percentage, Ratio and Percentage, Data Interpretation, Menstruation and Geometry, Quadratic Equation, Average, Simple and Compound Interest, Problems of Ages, Profit and Loss, Number Series, Speed, Time and Distance, Time And Work, Number System, Data Sufficiency, Linear Equation, Permutation and Combination And Probability, Mixture and Allegations       

General Awareness: Financial Awareness, Current Affairs, General Knowledge,

Computer Knowledge: Internet, Memory, Keyboard Shortcuts, Microsoft Office, Computer Hardware, Computer Abbreviation, Computer Software, Networking, Computer Fundamentals /Terminologies

Reasoning Aptitude: Verbal Reasoning, Syllogism, Circular Seating Arrangement, Linear Seating Arrangement, Double Lineup, Scheduling, Input Output, Blood Relations           Operating System, Directions and Distances, Ordering and Ranking, Data Sufficiency, Coding and Decoding, Code Inequalities
