Nowadays Competition Level become very high so Competitive Exams gets too tougher. Students facing critical problem of “What to prepare” and “How to prepare” to give their best in their exams. So, here we are providing the latest Syllabus & Exam Pattern of Written Exam conducting by State bank of India.

SBI PO Recruitment 2021 –

Applicants who are successful in the SBI PO Prelims 2021 examination will get a chance to sit in the main exam. The main examination will be issued in the second week of July. The same will be held on 20th July 2021. The result of the SBI PO Main Examination will be released in the third week of August. After this, the main exam group discussion and interviews of the admittance card will be issued in the fourth week of August. Group Discussion and Interview will be organized in September 2021 and the final result will be done in the second week of October 2021. SBI PO Selection Process 2021 –

The selection for Probationary Officers will be done through a three tiered process:

  • Phase-I : Preliminary Examination
  • Phase–II : Main Examination
  • Phase–III:Group Exercises & Interview

SBI PO Pre Exam Pattern This will be of Qualifying Nature & consists of Total 100 Marks & Consists of 100 Questions.

Phase – 2 MAIN EXAM

SBI PO Main Exam Pattern Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive test by typing on the computer. Descriptive Test will be administered immediately after completion of the Objective Test.

Descriptive Test –

The Descriptive Test has a duration of 30 minutes with a score of 50 marks. This test is conducted to test the writing skills of candidates via Letter Writing & Essay Writing.

Penalty for Wrong Answers –

The penalty for wrong answers Objective Tests of both Preliminary and Mains exams is 0.25 marks. There will be no penalty for leaving a question blank, i.e. if no answer is marked by the candidate.

Phase – 3

Group Exercise & Interview –

The aggregate marks of all the candidates clearing both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category. The decided number of candidates in each category, as governed by the Bank will be called for Group Exercises and Interview. The qualifying marks in Group Exercises & Interview will be as decided by the Bank. Group exercises account for 20 marks while Interview is for 30 marks.


Final Selection The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination (Phase-I) will not be added for preparing the final merit list for selection.Only the marks obtained in Main Examination(Phase-II), both in Objective Test and Descriptive Test, will be added to the marks obtained in GE& Interview (Phase-III) for preparing the final merit list. The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-II and Phase-III separately. Marks secured by the candidates in the Main Examination (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Exercises & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Main Examination and Group Exercises & Interview out of 100. The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category. Results of the candidates who qualify for Main Examination and Group Exercise & Interview was well as the final select list will be made available on the Bank’s website.


Reasoning – Focus on Comprehension Reasoning, Venn Diagrams, Number Series, Coding and de-coding, Problem Solving Techniques, Statement & Conclusion type questions,  arithmetic reasoning, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, syllogistic reasoning, Seating Arrangements, Decision Making, Input & Output, Logical Reasoning. Questions form Non Verbal Reasoning may ask in the Exam.

English Language – Mainly Focus on the topics like Synonyms, Antonyms,  Sentence Error, Sentence correction, fill in the blanks, Sentence Arrangements/ Word Arrangement, Comprehension & Cloze Test nothing can be out of these mentioned Topics etc. Comprehension will be lengthy.

DI & Quantitative Aptitude – Questions will be asked from Simplification, Number Series, Quadratic Equations Average, Percentage, Time & Work, Area, profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Time & Speed, Investment, HCF LCM, Problem On Ages, Bar Graph, Pictorial Graph, Pie Chart. Data Interpretation is the section which have to be focused.

General Awareness – Questions will be asked from Indian Current Events, Banking, General Science, General Knowledge. Focus will be mainly on Current affairs of National & International news, Important dates, Current Science, Technology, Sports & Culture & Banking Sector. Questions from Marketing will also be in ample amounts to Test Your Knowledge. Important Topics of SBI PO General Awareness are :

  • Budget and Five Year Plans

  • Books and Authors
  • Awards and Honors
  • Science – Inventions and Discoveries

Computer Awareness – Basic of Computers, Computer Organization, Generations of computer, Input & Output Device, Shortcuts & Basic knowledge MS word, MS Excel, MS power point, Memory Orientation, Internet, LAN, WAN, Modem, Computer Abbreviations, Modern day Technology. Remember short cut Tricks of MS Word, MS Excel & Computer Abbreviations.

Descriptive Test – This Test will be of Qualifying Type & will be Test of English Language. Questions will be ask from Essay writing, précis writing and Letter writing. For Descriptive Test Focus on the Current News of Finance Sector, National Issues, Recent Government Scheme & Editorials from the leading English Newspaper like The Hindu.
